This is my very first blog! So many emotions and thoughts flood my mind: Do I have anything worth sharing? Will people even read my blog? I feel like I have nothing to say yet everything to say, all in a single moment. Where do I even begin?
Let me begin by saying, “I love the Church!”
Some of my earliest memories of life all center around going to various church functions: Sunday School, worship, Vacation Bible School, Christmas Eve programs, and of course, many potlucks. I even remember being accidentally left by my family at church one Sunday. My parents drove separately to church one day and when the worship service ended each thought the other had me with them, and I was inadvertently left with the pastor until my parents figured out I wasn’t with them.
Yes, I love the church. But more importantly, I love the God who has called us together as His Body to reach out in the places He has placed us, with His love and grace. It is amazing to me how God uses the cracked and broken vessels that we are to carry out His most important task. Our call as followers of Christ is to expand the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the next generation … to connect people to Jesus. It’s that simple, yet it’s that profound. Through my blog, I plan to share stories, experiences, and thoughts about my journey as a missionary of Jesus. I once heard someone say, “The mission field is between your own two feet.” Where has God placed you? Who are the people you come in contact with on a daily basis who don’t know God in the personhood of Jesus Christ? Where might God be leading you to connect people to Jesus?
Yes, I love the church, but God loves it the most! After all, the Church is not some human invention or about a building with a cross and steeple, but rather, it is about people. God, through His infinite wisdom is building up a people unto Himself so that more and more may experience the life-giving power of the cross. Every day, through the cross and empty tomb, we are bathed with His blood and forgiveness. Every day we have a fresh start! Every day we are made new! This is incredible news! News worth sharing and LIVING!
I look forward to joining with you on this journey! Will you join with me? I hope and pray our time together will be a blessing to you.
